Developing Culture and Place-based Curriculum

This power point is a modified version of a longer one used by Janne Underriner and Judith Fernandes  to teach a class on “Writing Place and Culture-based Curriculum” for NILI’s annual Summer Institute (2010).

The place and culture-based basketry curriculum illustrated here was generated from a basketry grant from the Spirit Mountain Community Fund  (2009) from the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. Ethno-botanist Margaret Mathewson created the original basketry power point as documentation of gathering, preparing, weaving and honoring at Grand Ronde.
