Materials Development: Multimedia and Technology

Instructor, Robert Elliott

Computers are essential tools for teachers and others working on indigenous language. The challenge for many, however, is keeping up with the fast pace of changes to classroom technology. The goal of the Multimedia and Technology Materials Development course is to introduce users to a variety of technology and online tools that can be useful for creating learning materials. Rather than teaching any specific tool, we aim to increase the comfort level people have with computers, and to expose participants to ideas about the variety of materials that can be developed. This course will integrate a number of 21st century multimedia authoring skills useful for language teachers, such as video capture, image manipulation, design layout and content creation. We will develop a common project that can be taken home and used with the community.
