Summer Institute 2024 Summer Institute is a one-week teacher training program taking place on the University of Oregon Campus. TRaiLS (Tuxámshish Revitalization Learning Series)
The TRaiLS Revitalization Learning Series (TRaiLS) will last five days and occur in a hybrid format. It will feature daily presentations and conversations led by experts from Native communities, followed by question-and-answer sessions. We’ll have our TRaiLS webpage up soon with more details. What are the dates for Summer Institute, 2024? 

This year, we will meet for one week: Sunday, June 23rd to Saturday, June 28th. 

  

What classes are offered this year? 

Participants can choose between a beginning or experienced track during Summer Institute. We will announce our 2024 themes soon. Past themes have included Teaching Community and Family, Moving Beyond Vocabulary in Teaching, Planning Activities, Self-assessment, and Language Revitalization Journey, and Health and Well-being in Language Revitalization. 

   

Are there online options in Summer 2024?
Yes!
Yes! While Summer Institue will only be in person, our TRaiLS hybrid format allows remote participation. TRaiLS is available to all Summer Institute registrants without additional registration. For those unable to attend Summer Institute, we will soon open registration exclusively for TRaiLS, offered on a sliding scale. 

  

Will there be a Summer Institute Youth Program?
There will not be a Youth Program summer 2024, though we aim to continue youth programming in future summer institutes. 

 

What will NILI offer in Summer 2024?
Both Summer Institute and TRaiLS will be available in Summer 2024. Summer Institute will run in person from Sunday, June 23rd to Saturday, June 28th, while TRaiLS will occur in person for Summer Institute participants and online for non-Summer Insitute participants from Monday, June 24th to Friday, June 28th. Additional details will be added soon on the Summer Institute 2024 web page and upcoming TRaiLS 2024 webpage.
 

  • Summer Institute is a place where teachers and revitalization practitioners come together to build skills and connect. In 2024, Summer Institute will meet for one week, all day, Sunday June 23rd – Saturday June 29th. ***We have limited capacity for Summer Institute and registration is first-come, first-serve.
     
  • The TRaiLS Revitalization Learning Series (TRaiLS) will be a five day live online option. TRaiLS will consist of daily online presentations led by experts from Native communities. TRaiLS will also include a question and answer session. TRaiLS will meet for five days and include hour-long mid-day presentations Monday June 24th – Friday June 28th.
     

An Important Note on Housing  

Campus housing is available for NILI Summer Institute participants choosing to stay in UO dorms. Any off-campus housing reservations should be made early this year due to the Olympic Trials at UO this summer. This is a major event and accommodations will fill up quickly, so it is extremely advisable to secure your housing as soon as possible.
